Cellist. Teacher. Performer.

My Studio

Teaching kids the ins and outs of cello playing is my passion! I have done extensive training with some of the best teachers and mentors in the world, from Gilda Barston (Music Institute of Chicago) to Melisssa Kraut (Cleveland Institute of Music), Rick Mooney to Martha Gerschefski. I feel strongly that every child, given the chance, has the ability to learn beauty through music-making.
I run two programs based around my years of Suzuki teacher training. My Atlanta Cello Studio is located at Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church, off of I75 and Moore’s Mill in Buckhead. Private cello lessons are offered Mondays-Wednesdays, in addition to monthly studio classes and semester recitals. I am also the Artistic Director of the Newton County Youth Strings program, a Suzuki-based violin and cello program, which is housed at Porter Performing Arts Center in Covington, GA. Violin and cello lessons are offered throughout the week, depending on faculty schedules and availability.

Check out my cello quartet, Atlanta Celli!
These four classically-trained cellists push the boundaries of traditional cello music. They enjoy performing the intricacies of classical music but are just as likely to be found playing rock and pop songs as well as their own original works. Whether in a traditional concert hall or in a late-night rock club, Celli shatters any preconceived notions of what it means to be a cellist. Celli has performed in venues ranging from Spivey Hall to the TedX stage, from churches to outdoor festivals. They enjoy educating student audiences and coaxing others to venture outside the box in chamber concerts around the country. Whether collaborating with a beat-boxer or teaming up with opera singers, Celli’s aim is to bring genres and audiences together.

Erin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Cello Performance from the University of Louisville with teacher Paul York and a Master’s degree with renowned cello pedagogue Martha Gerschefski at Georgia State University. Other teachers and mentors include Felix Wang of Vanderbilt University, Melissa Kraut of the Cleveland Institute of Music, Gilda Barsten of the Music Institute of Chicago, and Rick Mooney of the National Cello Institute.
A cellist and chamber musician with the Savannah Philharmonic, Erin is also a member of Celli, a professional pop/classical cello quartet that performs in venues throughout the state. Celli has maintained an active schedule, collaborating with artists such as HeavN Beatbox and Jermaine Dupri, playing on stage at TedX, and filming for the Atlanta Falcons. Erin runs a Suzuki Cello Program at Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church in Atlanta and is the Artistic Director of the Newton County Youth Strings program in Covington, GA. Erin has been a guest clinician at the Blair School of Music’s Suzuki Workshop and the Atlanta Suzuki Institute, along with taking on the roll of Director of the Georgia Suzuki Fall Workshop for two years.
Erin’s Suzuki cello life began at age 4 in Vanderbilt University’s Suzuki program with teacher Anne Williams. Her teaching is centered around Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy that “every child can.” She strongly believes that every child, with the help of both teachers and parents, can learn not only how to play cello but how to become a beautiful musician and person.
